BMW Museum, Munich – The golf boom experienced around the globe has grown the game in Germany and it certainly helps looking back at the country’s contribution.  The BMW International Open will celebrate its 25th anniversary later this summer.  The title sponsor announced the field by bringing back one of the tournament’s early winners to reminisce.

PGA Tour veteran Paul Azinger has won a major, and defeated Europe both as a player for and as captain of the United States’ Ryder Cup team.  But he pleasantly recalls his two victories in the early days of Germany’s only European Tour stop as one of his finest moments.  His 1990 playoff victory over David Feherty is regarded as a classic moment, especially when Azinger finished the final three holes of the first round in the dark.  His second win in 1992 was decided after a five-man playoff, still a record on the European tour.

Azinger graciously spent time with Sport Eagle TV to talk about the tournament, Tiger Woods’ return to the top of the world rankings, offers his opinion on why Europe may never relinquish the Ryder Cup again, and perhaps a comeback in time to play at the BMW International Open in June.
