Franken Stadium, Nuremberg – Ice hockey returns to its roots Saturday afternoon when the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) will play the inaugural Winter Game outdoors in the home of the Bundesliga soccer club 1.FC Nürnberg.

The Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers host the Berlin Polar Bear (Eisbären) in a league game that will have most than just three points at stake.  The hope of the league is that a game with this stage will raise the awareness of the league in Europe.
