Olympic Ice Stadium, Munich – A new chapter for the German National hockey will be written starting tonight as Pat Cortina will break the ice as the new head coach against the country of his birth.

Germany will face-off against reigning Olympic Gold Medal winners Canada at the Deutschland Cup 2012.  The Canadian-born Cortina was appointed the position in September and will make his debut during this tournament, two months before qualification games for the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi.

Cortina, winger Alexander Barta and team consultant Clement Jodoin spoke to Sport Eagle about the team’s preparations for the game against Team Canada.  Jodoin is currently the assistant coach of the Montreal Canadiens, but as the NHL is currently locked out, he is supporting Germany and their new coach.
