The 2012-13 season is right around the corner and Sport Eagle visits the training camps of the Bundesliga squads to get your ready for the another exciting campaign of German club football.

Newly promoted Greuther Fürth are preparing for their first ever season in the Bundesliga by playing friendlies around Bavaria. Their opponent on Tuesday was Unterhaching who already started their season in Germany’s third division. Gerald Asamoah scored a goal and Kingsley Onuegbu a brace as Fürth won 5-0.

Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach “hosted” Birmingham City FC in Munich over the weekend for a pre-season friendly.  The game ended in a draw, 2-2, but was a solid test for both clubs.  Gladbach are looking to a tough Champions League Qualification and will be facing higher expectations after a solid season last year.  Birmingham City missed out on promotion to the English Premier League after losing in the playoffs to Blackpool last year, and hope to have another successful Championship campaign.

David Alaba scored the only goal of the match as FC Bayern Munich defeated SpVgg Unterhaching 1-0 at Generali Sport Park in Unterhaching. After Luiz Gustavo was tripped, Alaba stepped up to score the free kick in the 82nd minute of the game.

Unterhaching played exceptionally well, considering they struggle in the third tier of German football. A very positive performance from the hosts while Bayern is a long way from regaining form from last season, when they were in the hunt for a treble.  Bayern’s season begins in five weeks time.

FC Augsburg and Celtic FC started their pre-season friendly schedule in Donauwörth, Germany, playing to a scoreless draw in front of 4,500 fans. Augsburg controlled the opening half of the match, however they were unable to score, missing on many point blank opportunities. Celtic were able to survive the initial attack, settled in during the second half, but they too were unable to threaten the Augsburg goal.

The Euro Championships are over, time for the Bundesliga teams to prepare for the next season!  SpVgg Unterhaching hosted city neighbors TSV 1860 Munich in a friendly at their home pitch, Generali Sportpark in Unterhaching.

Florian Niederlechner and Maximilian Welzmüller scored for Haching, while Benjamin Lauth netted one for the visiting Lions, SpVgg defeated Munich 2-1.  Lisa Heckl files this review of the match between two teams with high hopes for the 2012-2013 campaign.
