Audi Dome, Munich – FC Bayern Basketball unveiled their new model of a team under pressure of high expectations for the BEKO Basketball Bundesliga and Euroleague seasons.

As far as debuts go, the team sputtered at the start but battled throughout during an 85-78 loss to FC Barcelona Basketball Regal.  Former New York Knicks draft pick Maciej Lampe recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds and Marcelo Huertas added 18 points (4-for-4 from three-point land) as the Catalan club built a comfortable lead in front of a close to capacity crowd.

A late spurt by Bayern’s newest members – Nihad Djedovic 14 points, Heiko Schaffartzik 12 points, and John Bryant 11 points – made the score respectable but gave the eager crowd a taste of what is to come this basketball season.

The preseason showcase against a perennial Euroleague participant from the Spanish league considered on par with the NBA allowed Svetislav Pešić to run through scenarios with his team that is still forming.  Along with the three mentioned, Bayern announced before tip-off the signing of Boris Savovic to compensate for the injury of another new player Deon Thompson.
