Stechert Arena, Bamberg – Nikola Mirotic scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, and Jaycee Carroll added 13 points as Read Madrid won their second Euroleague Top 16 game in Germany by beating up the Brose Baskets 82-67.

Boki Nachbar led Bamberg with 19 points and Anton Gavel contributed 17 points but it wasn’t enough to overcome their own mistakes and Madrid, who built a lead and held on with timely shooting and rebounding.

During key points in the game, the Baskets committed key turnovers – 17 in total.  When they were able to scratch their way back in, Bamberg’s shots would not fall.  At the end of the third quarter, Nachbar hit a trey to get within 59-57.  But Madrid answered with a 17-4 run, started by a Mirotic bucket, punctuated by Carroll scoring on a running floater and then nailing a three-pointer.  At 76-61 with 4:12 left, the game was over.

Real are now 2-0 in this round of the Euroleague with their wins at Berlin and at Bamberg.  They will host Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania on January 11th.  The Baskets fall to 0-2 vs. their losses against Spanish team, Unicaja Malaga and Real Madrid.  They travel to CSKA Moscow for Game 3 on January 3rd.
